Did you know that Ahoy Kitsap Playland has been hosting birthday parties since 2015 and we have always allowed outside catering? So why the sudden change? The largest factor that made us make this policy change are are the increasing costs of staying open vs the difficulty of increasing admission and party prices without pricing out families. Did you know that since 2015 our lease has increased over 50%, our insurance has doubled, and minimum wage has increased from $9.47 in 2015 to $17.13 in 2026? And yet, we employ on average 8-10 employees, pay above minimum wage, offer PTO to all employees, as well as voluntary benefits, in order to attract and keep good team members. You might come in on a busy day and think "wow, they must be raking in the dough," but the truth is for the last 5 years we have only paid down the interest on our COVID-19 Disaster Loan and made our first principal payment in August 2025. Which means this local owner will never retire. We sincerely hope you read this and think, "Wow, you know what? I'm going to support them, even if it costs me a few extra dollars." And in the mean time, we are going to work really hard to upgrade our catering menu to make it worthy of your dollars.
